KNYPERSLEY Vics eased their relegation fears on Saturday with a fine 2-0 win at Shifnal Town.

Vics' new boss Terry Greer has signed another player in Marc Hawkes, a former Stoke City trainee who made his debut on Saturday.

Knypersley enjoyed an excellent first half, putting the Shifnal defence on the back foot from the off.

Stribling saw a shot from just outside the area blocked, and the ball ran free to Lenahan.

His shot was saved by the keeper with his foot, and a Shifnal player blocked a second effort by Lenahan.

The ball ran loose in the packed goalmouth, where another goalbound shot by the Vics was cleared on the line.

Knypersley took a deserved lead on 13 minutes after Redgate had been put through on the right.

He beat the full back before crossing into the box for Atkinson to hammer home.

Shifnal had to wait until the 24th minute for their first real shot on goal, but Treharne fired well wide.

Knypersley continued to impress, and 10 minutes from the interval Stanway launched a free kick 35 yards out into the box.

Clowes headed on to Redgate, who turned and hit a volley which was superbly tipped round for a corner by the keeper.

The Vics made it 2-0 seven minutes into the second half when Hawkes laid the ball inside for Redgate to score with a first time shot.

The Shifnal keeper blocked a fierce shot by James with 10 minutes left, and Atkinson and Hawkes had good chances in the dying minutes, but shot over and wide. Knypersley are at home to Cradley Town tomorrow.
