CONGLETON Town boss Kevin Langley has given his in form defenders a stiff challenge tomorrow against hot shots Mossley.

The Bears go into their home clash on the back of two victories in which they have kept clean sheets.

However the back line faces a stern test against mid-table Mossley, who have won five on the trot and notched up a 5-1 victory on Saturday.

The Bears beat relegation candidates Great Harwood 2-0 at home on Saturday to lift them one place to sixth from bottom.

The victory was Congleton's second in a row in the league, the only time that has happened this season.

Langley has revived the Bears' fortunes since he arrived nine games ago, winning four and drawing two.

"The victory against Great Harwood was a vital result, and they needed to win," said Langley.

"We deserved the win, hitting the post twice and bar twice, and should have killed them off.

"Mossley are a tall, physical side, and I am looking for us to keep a clean sheet and nick a goal.

"The lads are in confident mood, particularly in view of keeping clean sheets on the trot."

Congleton almost took the lead in the opening minute of Saturday's vital encounter for both sides.

The Great Harwood keeper allowed the ball to rebound off his knees as Lomax chipped the ball towards goal where it was headed off the line.

Proctor's third-minute headed goal for the visitors was ruled out for offside, and the Bears took the lead two minutes later.

Park headed on a corner, and Lomax redirected the ball back into the box where Scully fired home from a yard out.

Baker went close with an overhead kick on 12 minutes, and five minutes later Bears' keeper Towns dived to push a Proctor header against the post.

Baker headed against the bar in the second half, and headed over midway through the half.

Lomax went close with five minutes left, flipping the ball over his head and hitting a goalbound drive which Dawson kept out superbly.

Congleton sealed victory with three minutes to go when Shaw got in a shot which Dawson stopped with his feet.

Proctor needlessly handled the ball when it was returned into the box, and Scully tucked away the resulting penalty with his second of the match.

Congleton are at home to Mossley tomorrow and travel to Warrington next Tuesday.
