SCHOOLS governors in Congleton and Alsager have been invited to comment on plans for changes to the school year.
The Local Government Association is proposing a six-term year starting next September instead of the current three.
Its proposals include two terms before Christmas and four after, with a summer break of more than five weeks.
In addition there would a two-week break in October "to reduce pupil and teacher stress," and a Christmas break of at least two weeks.
The proposals, if approved, would be implemented in full in 2005.
Governing bodies of all Cheshire schools have been invited to comment on the plans.
