SWAN were the top performers in Earlestown and District Darts League Division A this week.

They proved that they are a match for anyone on their day by comfortably defeating league leaders BRSA B.

Swan captain K. Bowes drew with Bill Jones before Ste Brannigan overcame BRSA B's Brian Cain with a fantastic 15-darter.

Dave Ponjunas got the B team back into the game with a steady 20-dart win over Wally Crook.

Swan's Ian Harrison then beat Dave Smith in 24-darts before Murray Noble, 33 and Gary Jones, 19, defeated Jim Carrey and Keith Boughen respectively to give Swan an unassailable lead.

Silky

The silky skills of Swan youngster Fred Spencer ensured he drew with Pat Ruane.

L. Molyneux defeated Dave Leyland to push Swan further ahead before Ian Wilson beat Mike Jones to make the score more respectable.

Blue Bell beat Old Crow 5-4 to continue their good form.

John Thompson, Alan Cowley, Keith Fairhurst-Johnson and star performer Ian Makinson were Bell's hot shots. Alan Baines, Ray Doolan, John Doolan and Ken Williams replied for Crow.

Newton Social Club A had a resounding 6-3 win against St. Patricks.

Jim Helsby, Barry Smith, Les Wilkie, Derek Duxbury, Gary Mather and Harry Hill all recorded great wins for the A team.

Newton Social B had a spectacular 8-1 win over highly rated Vulcan Inn A.

Peter Brown, Phil Arnold, S. W. Jones, Phil Ashbrook, George Ratcliffe, Barry Edmonson, 14, Roy Matther, 16 and Chris Hayden, 88, were the B team's winners.

Griffin threw away a 4-2 lead against vastly improving Bridge Inn.

Wins by Les Anders, Ste Jones, 11, Ron Ambrose, Dave Leicester and Ste Hodson gave Bridge a stylish win.

Griffin's winners were Jeff Hales, Noel Bevan, Norman Dackombe and captain Dennis Morse.

In Division B, Wellington were too strong for league leaders Sunbeam.

T. Bicker and Derek Garton gave Wellington a 2-0 lead before Sunbeam's in-form Steve Hearn pulled a game back.

Jim Deardon then edged Wellington further ahead with a win against Paul Watkinson.

G. Robinson, Ade Jerzierski and Ste Swift fought back to put Sunbeam one game short of victory before John McClymont produced a cracking 15-darter to level the scores.

In a tense deciding game, Wellington's Stuart Garton held his nerve to overcome Alan Lawrenson.

Earlestown Cons beat Houghton Arms 7-2 thanks to a superb match winning 15-darter from Gary Stein.

Dave Walkden, Stuart Pierce, Les Skeech, Joe Smith, Tony Close and captain Ged Dooner also won for Cons.

Peter Close cracked in a superb 11-darter to put Wargrave Inn on the road to a 5-4 victory over Vulcan B.

Wargrave's other winners were John Conncannon, Gordon Goodban, Terry Richards and John Holland.
