POLICE are on the trail of a dangerous couple who kidnapped a Nantwich motorist at knifepoint, last week.

Wayne Sadiq, 29, suffered a terrifying ordeal after answering the duo's mock distress call in Willaston, last Wednesday.

Mr Sadiq was forced to drive for over an hour at knifepoint, across South Cheshire and into North Wales, before being ordered out of the vehicle by the couple who then headed towards Queensferry.

The vehicle, a distinctive white Vauxhall Astra, was recovered on Saturday, from a lay-by near to the junction of the A548 and the A5117, close to Deeside Industrial Estate.

Left badly shaken, Mr Sadiq was not injured in the incident that occurred at 6.50am as he was traveling on the A500 Newcastle Road towards the M6.

After spotting a woman waving her hands in the air, he pulled over to see a man lying in the gutter who appeared lifeless.

The woman approached the passenger door, opened it and within seconds, the man had got off the floor and was holding a knife to Mr Sadiq's throat.

Sitting in the passenger seat, the male ordered his victim to drive towards North Wales, issuing directions while still holding a knife to his throat.

Mr Sadiq was forced to drive along the A51 towards Chester, onto the M53 towards Birkenhead before exiting at Junction 10 and travelling along the A5117, exiting on the A548 at Deeside.

Here, the man ordered Mr Sadiq out of the car and then drove the vehicle back onto the A5117 towards Queensferry.

Police are appealing for any information on the incident.

The man is described as white, 6ft tall and aged between 22 and 23 with a slim build, short brown hair, red sunken eyes and a spotty face.

He was wearing a scruffy leather jacket, which was worn around the chest, a white t-shirt, light blue jeans and trainers.

The woman is described as white, 5ft 6 to 7ins tall, with shoulder length dyed blonde hair, a pierced left nostril with no stud and a spotty complexion.

She was wearing a beige three-quarter length raincoat.

The Vauxhall Astra has the registration M269 PUY, five spoke alloy wheels and two motifs, a St George's Cross and three lions, on the number plates.
