ANOTHER chapter in the colourful history of Lymm Water Tower was being written last night, Wednesday, by council planners.

Members of the borough council's development control committee, were meeting to discuss altered plans to the design of the extended turret, which were previously approved in 1999, and for further telecommunications equipment.

The reason for the new development was twofold. Firstly there was a new design philosophy because of a change in architect, and secondly to enable the inclusion of more apparatus.

A petition objecting to the scheme and signed by 23 people was presented to the council as well as 15 letters from nearby residents, who claimed, among other things, that it could be a health hazard.

Lymm Parish Council says it objects because there are still concerns from residents over the new design.
