Mrs Eliza Lewis, wife of the late Mr Joseph Lewis, died on December 5, aged 96.

Mrs Lewis, of Hollybush Residential Home, formerly of Leicester Street, was born in Bank Quay and lived there for most of her life.

She had been a member of, and also worked for, St Barnabas' Church for more than 90 years, last attending on the Sunday before her death.

Before she became a widow, Mrs Lewis and her husband enjoyed many touring holidays in Scotland and Cornwall. She also looked forward to visits from her family and friends and until recently attended Warrington Centre for the Blind.

Mrs Lewis was a member of Crosfield's Pensioners' Association and liked visiting its club until her eyesight deteriorated. She was a very determined and independent woman who went into Hollybush only seven weeks before her death.

Mrs Lewis leaves two sons, a daughter, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a son.

A service was held on December 11 at St Barnabas' Church, followed by interment at Warrington Cemetery. The Rev Karen Timmis officiated.

All donations were sent to St Barnabas' Church.

Arrangements were made by A Maddock & Son, of Stockton Heath and Lovely Lane.
