Mr Charles Herbert Clark, husband of the late Mrs Mona Clark, died after a long-term illness on December 28. He was 89.

Mr Clark, of Riverbank Nursing Home, Howley, formerly of Avery Close, was a lifelong resident of Warrington.

He was employed as a warehouse man at Ryland Whitecross for 51 years.

Mr Clark was educated at Hamilton Street and Beamont Schools. His working career was broken only during the Second World War by his Army service. He joined the South Lancashire Regiment, and then the Royal Corps of Signals, and was wounded in France after the Normandy landings.

In later years Mr Clark's hobbies included reading, darts and watching rugby league, particularly The Wire.

He was also a devoted family man, who in turn was treasured by his children and grandchildren.

Mr Clark leaves two sons, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A service was held on January 7 at Walton Lea, followed by cremation. The Rev Philip Mears officiated.

All donations were sent to the British Heart Foundation.

Arrangements were made by Cheshire Funeral Services, of Gorsey Lane.
