Mrs Lily Sadie Harrison, wife of the late Mr John Henry Harrison, died of bronchopneumonia and cerebral thrombosis on December 1 at Warrington Hospital. She was 77.
Mrs Harrison, of Twiss Green Lane, Culcheth, was born in Byker, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and lived in Culcheth for 50 years, but had been in hospital since June following a second major stroke.
Prior to being incapacitated by her first stroke two years ago, Mrs Harrison led an active life. She was very interested in the deaf and blind, and studied sign language so that she could work as a helper at a club in Manchester.
Mrs Harrison was a very mature student, who took further education courses at Warrington Technical College, including maths, French and German. She was also interested in family history and was educating herself in the uses of it, to aid her to do this.
Mrs Harrison was a determined lady who sought to help others who were less fortunate than herself.
She leaves a granddaughter, a grandson, and a sister. Mrs Harrison was pre-deceased by her daughter last year.
A service was held on December 10 at Culcheth Parish Church, prior to cremation at Walton Lea. The Rev Beryl Smart officiated.
Arrangements were made by Knox & Son, of Orford Road.
