Mrs Mary Delia Finnegan, wife of the late Mr David Finnegan, died on December 5, aged 84.
Mrs Finnegan, of Westminster House Nursing Home, formerly of Gregory Close and Lodge Lane, was born in County Mayo, Eire, and lived in Warrington for 56 years.
She first came to England in 1936 and resided at Lytham St Anne's, working as a conductress on the buses.
Here she met her future husband, who was in the Royal Air Force stationed in the town.
After the war the couple settled in Warrington, which was Mr Finnegan's home town.
Throughout her working life, Mrs Finnegan was employed at various places, including Bennett's Bakeries, Warrington Hospital (as an orderly on the Maternity Unit), Bewsey School and Watson's Opticians.
Mrs Finnegan enjoyed travelling and visited her sister in New York several times, most recently to celebrate her sister's 80th birthday three years ago.
She also made many trips to Eire for family reunions.
Mrs Finnegan was a devoted and caring wife to her husband during his many years of ill-health, and was known for her gentleness and wonderful sense of humour.
She leaves two sons, three daughters, two grandsons, five granddaughters, two great-grandsons and two sisters.
A service was held on December 13 at St Alban's RC Church, followed by cremation at Walton Lea.
The Rev Father Chris Cunningham officiated.
Mrs Finnegan's ashes were later interred beside her husband's at St Alban's churchyard.
Arrangements were made by Co-operative Funeral Services, of Bewsey Road.
