Mrs May Robinson, wife of the late Mr Jack Robinson, died of a pulmonary embolism on December 12. She was 81.
Mrs Robinson was born in Bank Quay and lived in Great Sankey for 70 years. She was employed as a stores assistant at Conveyancer for five years until taking retirement. Mrs Robinson was a former pupil of Great Sankey Primary School and had a variety of jobs throughout her lifetime. During the Second World War she worked at J Crosfield & Son, followed by employment at Penketh Tannery, USAF Air Base and the Inland Revenue in Bootle. In her youth, Mrs Robinson was an accomplished swimmer, winning many awards and trophies. In later life she enjoyed playing bingo at the Palace Bingo Club, where she had many friends, and was well known for her great sense of humour and warm personality. Mrs Robinson leaves two sons, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, upon whom she doted. A service was held on December 20 at Walton Lea, followed by cremation. The Rev Michael Buckley officiated.
