The wedding took place at All Saints Church, Daresbury, of Mr James Joseph MacKenzie Harkins, eldest son of James Harkins, of Glasgow, and Miss Hazel Anne Dale, of Beechmoore, Moore, only daughter of Mrs Barbara Dale, of Moore, and the late Mr Arnold Dale. The Rev. David Felix officiated.

The bride was given in marriage by her uncle Tony Wood, and wore a princess-line cream crepe dress with embossed cream leaves and fresh flowers in her hair that matched her bouquet of cream roses and eryngium. Her jewellery consisted of a pearl necklace and earrings, and a Celtic bracelet of silver and pewter, a gift from the bridegroom.

Best men were James Harkins, bridegroom's son and Steve Boyd, and groomsmen were John, Tom, and Hugh Harkins, bridegroom's brothers.

Matron of honour was Lorraine Harkins, bridegroom's daughter, and bridesmaid was Lorna Tierney, bride's daughter. Pageboy was Callum Tierney, bride's son.

The bridegroom is a managing director of Transport and Training Services, and the bride is a site administration manager at Daresbury Laboratory.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Cyprus. The bridegroom is an education and training officer for the Institute of Logistics and Transport and a National Council member for the Light Rail Transit Association.
