Jones' winning streak halted
GRAPPENHALL postman Nick Jones was one second away from recording his sixth win on the trot at the Helsby Half Marathon on Sunday.
The 27-year-old's incredible winning streak came to a halt after a tense sprint finish with fellow Great Britain international Carl Warren.
Nick's wife Caroline said: "I can't remember the last time Nick took part in a sprint finish because he is usually well ahead of the other runners by that stage.
"He is gutted he lost the race by a second, specially because it meant that he lost out on the £400 winner's prize. But he can take comfort by the fact that his winning time of 64mins 39secs was more than one minute faster than the course record."
Nick will be looking to get back to winning ways at the Alsager Five Mile race on February 3.
