WARRINGTON men's hockey team reached the final of the Lancashire Cup after overcoming Southport in a closely fought semi-final.
At the end of extra time, the score was 1-1 but after a tense penalty shoot out, Warrington emerged as 5-4 victors.
The second string's recent run of good form was halted by Northern.
Phil Griffiths scored the only goal in their 3-1 defeat.
Warrington fourths hammered bottom of their league Winnington Park 4-1.
All of Warrington's goals were 'tailor made' as Richard and Dave Taylor scored a goal apiece and Mark Taylor grabbed the other two.
The Badgers earned a deserved 2-0 victory at Neston.
Richard Arber and Rob Williams were their goal scorers.
