WARRINGTON crashed out of the Thwaites Lancashire Cup in controversial circumstances on Saturday.
Gez Louden provided the inspiration for a injury hit Warrington side in a compelling first half.
Some crisp handling in the backs led to a try by Matt Drinkwater.
Warrington defended poorly from the kick-off and the visitors scored a try direct from a tapped penalty.
With Eddie Fields giving an impressive display on his return to the side and Steve Riley working tirelessly up front, Warrington soon regained their lead when Anton Fields slipped over after a midfield break.
The game hinged on a series of refereeing decisions late in the second half.
Firstly, Richard Turner was sin-binned within 30 seconds of entering into the fold.
Broughton then took the lead from another tapped penalty when Warrington's players were attending to an injured man.
To add insult to injury, Kevin Jones intercepted and raced clear only to be pulled back for off side when he was clearly on side.
In the protests that followed, Anton Fields was sent off to add to Warrington's growing list of unavailable players for Saturday's league game at Lymm.
