A CENTRAL point for child care services was one of the priorities highlighted in the "Better Services Better Working Lives" report.
Warrington is fortunate to have this through the Children's Information Service. It is run by the Early Years Development and Child Care Partnership and is based at the Town Hall.
Set up 18 months ago, the service links families with a wide range of facilities for childcare needs which can be met in the town and is co-ordinated by Mark Torkington. The service covers nursery schools and classes, childminders, day nurseries, pre-school groups and play groups, play schemes, out of school clubs, holiday clubs and parent and toddler groups. The information is available to parents, carers, professionals and employers who have an interest in childcare services and issues. Parents can also obtain information on working families tax credit and employers can get advice and guidance on family-friendly practices.
The service also identifies gaps in provision, helps to develop facilities and raises the profile of childcare issues.
The service's helpline is 01925 443131.
