FREE home safety checks are being offered to people in Newton and Earlestown.
The borough council is visiting homes to test fires and boilers for carbon monoxide emissions.
Every year fumes from faulty home heating appliances kill around 50 people, and more than 100,000 suffer illness due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
If you are interested in or require a home safety check appointment, contact Peter Lennon, the council's home safety co-ordinator, on 01744 456468.
