A MIDDLEWICH nurse is through to the finals of a competition to find Marie Curie's Nurse of the Year for England.

Jacqueline Forbes, who lives in Bramble Close, works for the charity visiting cancer patients in their homes throughout the East Cheshire area.

If she wins she would have the opportunity to become an ambassador for all the Marie Curie nurses in England and spend 12 months promoting the charity's valuable work.

Jacqueline said: "I would obviously be delighted if I am chosen as Marie Curie nurse of the year for England. It would certainly help raise the profile of the organisation in Cheshire.

"I would love the opportunity to represent the hard work of all Marie Curie nurses and I would give my best to ensure the job is done well."

Jacqueline, 53, is married with two grown-up daughters and will join other finalists in London for a two day training and judging session.

The winner from each country in the UK will be announced in early May, to coincide with International Nurses Day,

Clinton Cards sponsors the award and winners will receive a weekend break for two, a £300 bursary, a Vidal Sassoon haircut, flowers and champagne.

Marie Curie Cancer Care has stressed that this is not a best nurse competition, as all its nurses are special.
