DO you have time on your hands? Even if it's just a couple of hours, then St Rocco's needs you to join the hundreds of unsung heroes that help the hospice raise vital funds.

As part of a huge volunteer recruitment drive taking place over the next few weeks, customers in the Knutsford Road charity shop in Latchford and in London Road, Stockton Heath, will be able to view scenes of the hospice from the information boards that will be on display.

And volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about what it takes to become one of the heroes.

The unusual idea of taking the hospice out to the shops was the idea of Karen Hickmore, volunteer co-ordinator at the hospice.

She said: "Many of our charity shops need to recruit new volunteers, to help staff the shops during the six days that they are open.

"Being a volunteer gives many people a chance to meet new people but at the same time makes them feel wanted in the local community, while helping to raise the profile of St Rocco's."

No prior experience is needed to be a St Rocco's volunteer, as full training will be given. Anyone interested in taking part should visit the shops to talk to a volunteer or pick up a leaflet to learn more about the various roles available.
