NANTWICH CC got their season off to a flier with a three-wicket victory at Alderley Edge, last Saturday.
Winning the toss, the visitors put their opponents into bat and made steady progress, reducing them to 50 for 3.
A fine 36 from Usher steered them into treble figures before Ward struck twice in quick succession for Nantwich, leaving Alderley Edge on 105 for 5.
Top scorer Wright's stubborn 47 helped them toward a reasonable total of 202 with Guyanan paceman Barrington Brown mopping up, claiming an impressive start of 6 for 63.
In reply, Nantwich had lost both openers with the score on 37 but Maynard's 25 put them back on track.
Shaking again on 91 for 4, Bentham came in and played a match-winning unbeaten 61 to see Nantwich home.
Nantwich entertain Chester Boughton Hall, this Saturday, start 12.30pm.
