Lostock Gralam 3

Cheadle Heath Reserves 2

Mid Cheshire Division Two

LOSTOCK ended their season with a performance that was a fitting tribute to legends Mike Alcock and Chris Peers, who announced their retirement from playing Saturday football.

The day was made even sweeter for assistant manager Alcock, who also scored the decisive third goal, leaving boss Peers delighted his side had completed their campaign on a high.

Their first season together in management has been one of mixed emotions and mixed results, with inconsistent home form the major problem.

And on Saturday the opening 20 minutes were scrappy until home keeper Wyatt saved from close range and his long clearance was flicked on by Christmas for Pete Gibbon to race through and place the ball into the top corner.

Straight from the re-start a mazy run from Rogers startled the Cheadle defence and his cross was met by Gibbon, who brilliantly chipped the keeper before heading home.

The strike partnership of Rogers and Gibbon has been a highlight this season and they were in terrorising mode yet again, although Cheadle pulled one back before half-time.

After the break normal service was resumed but Lostock didn't capitalise until the hour mark when Alcock celebrated his moment of glory, firing in a 20-yard free kick to put Lostock back in control.

A late consolation goal brought the scoreline closer but Lostock continued to play some excellent passing football to hold on to the three points.

Lostcok: Wyatt, Alport, Peers, Kay, Alcock (Aleks 70), Birtles, Christmas, Kimber, Gibbon, Rogers, Comboy.
