HASLINGTON CC suffered a miserable start to the season at Burslem, last Saturday.
An opening stand of 187 by the Lowdnes brothers did the damage and a string of missed chances put Burslem in a strong position enabling them to declare on 199 for 1 after 51 overs.
With 49 overs to chase, Haslington CC struggled from the get go but almost secured a draw with just 2.2 overs to go.
Morris (17) and Percival (11) were the main element or resistence as the visitors stuttered to 73 all out.
