BIG wins for Karl Minshull and Chris Jackson provided Crewe Boxing Club with the perfect boost ahead of tonight's fight night in Nantwich.

The duo impressed as Joey Singleton's boys were among those on the bill at Creations Night Club in Hanley, last Wednesday.

Lightweight Minshull took on Bridgefoot ABC's Jamie Chidotal who was the aggressor in the opening round, forcing the pace as the Crewe lad utilised some impressive boxing skills to sidestep trouble.

The second started in similar fashion but Minshull was beginning to score regularly on the counter and rocked his opponent twice with solid right hands before a dominant final round made it easy for the judges to award him a unanimous decision.

Next up was junior welterweight Jimmy Price who faced Shrewsbury ABC's Paul Hadfield in a solid contest.

Price used his jab to take the first but Hadfield went to work on the inside and it paid off, winning the second and final rounds for a unanimous decision.

The rematch between Charlie King and the George ABC's Dale Harrison was a classic with toe-to-toe action in every round and the crowd got the result they wanted as the Stoke lad came away with a majority decision.

Topping the bill was a return bout featuring Crewe light welterweight Ian Clyde and highly-rated Liam Kavanagh.

The Widnes boxer started well as he went to work on the counter, but eyeing revenge, Clyde started to turn the tide in the second and by the third, he was in control.

Realising he was in trouble, Kavanagh threw everything forward, allowing Clyde to pick him off at will but despite a great performance, the judges saw it differently and awarded Kavanagh a split decision.

"Kavanagh is a class opponent but he shook hands with me after the decision and said 'don't blame me' which pretty much sums it up," stated Singleton.

It looked a tough task for middleweight Chris Jackson with Paramount's Dave Clark standing in the opposite corner, a boxer who outpointed Crewe's veteran Simon Gidman, last time out.

But Jackson wasn't fazed and his trademark left jab did all the talking in the first as Clark had no answer.

Same again in round two although Clark gradually got into it and by the third, he went for broke, but Jackson stayed cool and boxed his way to a unanimous decision.

"It was pleasing to see an 18-year-old novice beat a 34-year-old veteran," added Singleton.

Tonight's bill at the Nantwich Civic Hall should be a corker with all the above expected to be in action along with many more including Geoff 'Bud' Wright, Richard Daley and Billy Boreham.
