TOP work on the A500 Shavington-Hough-Basford bypass has earned its contractors a prestigious award nomination.
Mowlem Northern Civil Engineering is in the running for a Considerate Contractors award after the £28million road scheme scored an outstanding 39 and a half points out of 40.
Categories included being considerate, environmentally aware, a good neighbour, respectful and keeping a clean site.
The company was praised for having noise monitoring equipment in place, having a full-time environmental manager and an ecologist to monitor any effect on wildlife.
The bypass, which covers more than 7kms of road in a rural setting, will provide a safer and healthier environment for residents by removing 80pc of through traffic.
Regional MD Peter Clay said: "This is a major achievement by all our site team.
"Everyone has worked extremely hard to progress the project whilst minimising the scheme's impact and any inconvenience."
