Johnny, busy filming the second series of Happiness for the BBC, jets into Edinburgh on Saturday morning to add his weight to Saints' Barmy Army of supporters.

Ahead of the derby clash with the pie eaters, Johnny told the Star: "The Saints lads are the real stars of the town and they're all about St Helens - I just hope they keep doing what they're doing.

"As we proved over the bank holiday... we're now the team!

"I just hope they don't do what they did in 1989 - but I've every confidence we're going to win and I'm looking forward to a fantastic day.

"I'm busy spreading the word down London - and even Paul Whitehouse has been asking about Keiron Cunningham after watching them on tele. He might even do a little tape to send up for the lads."

Johnny will be mingling with the thousands of fans enjoying Edinburgh's clubs and pubs and is expecting to enjoy a bit of an "all nighter".

He added: "I was up there gigging when Leeds and Bradford played. It's the first time I've seen the pubs close - the Northerners drank them dry. I would like to think St Helens might put up just as good a showing."

Cocktails

He also picked out some drinking spots for Saints' fans to sample.

"There's a great pub called the Seven Sisters which is down by Cowgate that has a massive beer garden - that's my kind of stamping ground."

"There's the City Gate which has a couple of great pool tables, or there's a few la-di-da bars for those who enjoy cocktails and all that stuff."
