Can Labour regain full control of the council after losing it on the resignation of the Nantwich Independents in 2000 or will it remain hung with Conservatives and Liberal Democrats making further inroads into their majority?

The people will decide its fate with 22 seats on the borough council up for grabs.

Barony Weaver represents one of the best battles as Bill McGinnis defends his seat for the first time as a Nantwich Independent against Labour's Joyce Stockton and Conservative's Graham Fenton.

With both Amanda Park and Richard Neave standing down in Leighton, Christine Bratherton and Bob Jones will fight for a Labour hold on both seats, opposed by Conservative duo Douglas Forrest and Helen Meiklejohn and two independents Sarah Speirs-Cooke and William Tee.

Polling hours are from 8am till 9pm and every effort will be made to gain easy access to the polling stations to register their vote.

A full list of candidates has been published and copies are available from council reception points.
