ALTHOUGH the developer of the Royal George has 'calmed down about the planning decision now' (last week's Knutsford Guardian), he nonetheless managed to score an own goal by wrongly attacking a local councillor, who had the audacity to stand up for residents' views.

He had obviously not calmed down enough to prevent him from again showing his true colours.

His attempt to effectively harass Clr Austin, both via your newspaper and also by solicitor's letter to Macclesfield Borough Council, seems to prove my point about his adoption of an aggressive approach to achieve his aims, irrespective of the views of others.

Perhaps he just does not understand the democratic processes or he chooses to try to ignore them - aided and abetted by planning officials

Whatever the reasons, the developer's stance is a further strong warning to Knutsford residents to keep a close watch on any submission of revised plans or on any planning appeal - otherwise the town will suddenly find itself with a fait accompli with, among other drawbacks, parked cars totally clogging not only the town centre but all surrounding residential areas.
