CREWE'S Lyceum Youth Theatre have been producing some award winning work.

And it's been recognised.

Borough mayor, Cllr Terry Beard presented a well-deserved James Golding Drama Trophy to the group, last week.

The late Jim Golding MBE was a long serving Labour borough councillor, former mayor and a leading supporter of the Lyceum.

In respect, the mayor decided to re-establish the award on an annual basis and it was felt the Lyceum Youth Theatre were ideal first recipients.

They landed the trophy in recognition of their high quality of work and further improvement and expansion.

Four youth theatre groups meet on a weekly basis and members are aged between 5 and 16. They attend regular drama workshops at the Century Building, next to the Lyceum.

The Youth Theatre is currently developing performance work for local and national projects and is hoping to form a group for people aged between 17 to 19 and another for those aged 20 and over.

If you would like to join one of the groups or would like further information, call drama development officer Steve Fairclough on 01270 537248.
