AN improvement in GCSE results was seen at schools all over Widnes.
Christopher Owen of Fairfield High school received a special letter saying he was in the top five in the country for English Literature, out of 361,913 entrants!
SS Peter and Paul Head teacher, Mike Glover, said he was 'very pleased' with the school's results which included Hayley Smith getting 10 A*s and 1 A.
Mark Chambers got one A* and seven As, Edward Craghill got eight A*s and one A, William Evans got two A*s and six As, Danielle Price got one A* and seven As and Mark Lughanne got one A* and seven As.
Christopher Sutton scored eight A*s and six As, Catherine Connolly one A* and five As and Jenna Hamlett two A*s and four As.
Wade Deacon pupils had a set of outstanding results, with the school above the national average.
Head Teacher, Peter Barry, said: "We are absolutely delighted. It is a reward for all the hard work that staff and pupils have put in for five years."
The school saw 62 per cent of pupils gain five or more passes A* to C and 99 per cent got five or more A* to G.
The top performers were Stephanie Cooper with eight A*s and three As, Elizabeth Graham with six A*s and five As, James Naughton with five A*s and two As, Kenneth O'Grady with 10 As and John Roberts with nine As.
