WINSFORD seconds failed to capitalise on a good batting pitch as they returned to losing ways against a relatively poor Sandbach second string side.
After losing the toss Winsford were put in to bat and the openers soon set about the Sandbach attack weighing in with a very quick fire 50.
In-form Brian Smudge scored a solid 27 before being caught at point and was well supported by Graham Stonewall who played solidly until he picked up an injury and had to retire hurt for 23.
Winsford also took full advantage of some untidy bowling from Sandbach, who gave away 40 runs in extras.
Jonnie Kettle, a debutant, then came in with a few overs remaining and knocked a few deliveries to the boundary before he was out for 10.
That was effectively the end of the Winsford innings as they made 146-7.
In reply Sandbach responded well and despite some plucky bowling from the Winsford lads mangaed to force their way to 148-4 passing Winsford's total with 14 overs to spare.
