PREMIERSHIP teams dominated the quarter-finals of the Carlsberg Tetley Crewe Open League Summer Team Knock-out with three teams gaining victories to proceed to the semis.

Dave Coyne was the star thrower for Liberal Valley hitting a 15 darter, which included a 180 maximum and secured victory for Valley with a 120 checkout in the pairs game.

The Liberal Valley had built a 5-2 darts advantage and with the dominoes level at three all they had an 8-5 aggregate win against opponents Leisure Club.

Polish A held a 5-2 darts lead over Raven B and when Mick Phillips won the sixth dominoes game to level at three all this sealed a comfortable aggregate victory for the Polish.

Commercial were the other premier side to have an easy 9-5 aggregate passage into the semi-final against fellow premiership side South St Snooker.

The Commercial's top marksmen were Mark Jodrill 18 darts, Barry Cooper 19 darts and Lee Cooper hitting a 180 maximum. South Street's Chris Hardern also hit a maximum.

In the clash between division one rivals Westend RAOB A and Hawk, the former won the first three dominoes game and shared the darts two apiece for a 5-2 aggregate lead.

Hawk responded to reduce the deficit to two at 7-5 but RAOB secured a 9-5 aggregate victory when Rob Arrowsmith and Mark Peake won the darts pairs and dominoes captain Jack Hallows and Darren Ledward were victorious in the dominoes pairs.

The Hawk's Colin Cook was top marksman hitting a 17 dart game.

The draw for the semi-finals to played on Monday, September 23, is as follows:

Westend RAOB A vs Polish A and Liberal Valley Vs Commercial.

The final will be played at the Crosville Club on Monday, September 30.

In the third round of the darts nines knock-out competition for Premier and Division One teams Paul Sheehan was top marksman with a 180 maximum for Liberal Valley as they thrashed Amalgamated B 8-1.

The other premier side Pioneer defeated Raven B by a 5-2 scoreline.

Mick Stanley and Dave Taylor took the first two games for the Nags Head but it was downhill after this as the depleted Nags were trounced 7-2 by LMR A.

Hawk also had an easy 7-2 victory over Kings Arms.

The following teams Hawk, Liberal Valley, LMR A and Pioneers have now qualified for a share of £140 prize money which will be played for at the Crosville Club on Thursday, September 12.

In the competition for Divisions 2,3 and 4, the match between North Ward and George was the closest of the round as the first four were shared then George went into a 4-2 lead with the help of a 21 darter from captain Graham Warburton.

The Ward pair of Darren Preece and Dave Evanson took the first pairs game but in the next Tony Ralphs and Gary Fairhurst were in top form hitting a 23 dart game to secure a 5-3 victory for the George.

Simon Phillips was the only winner for Liberal A as they were thrashed 8-1 at the Rockwood.

Delamere were easy 7-2 winners against Vine B and Cosey Club inflicted a 5-0 defeat on Shavington Club.

The following teams Cosey Club, Delamere, George and Rockwood have now qualified to play for a share of the £140 of prize money which will be held at the Crosville Club on a date to be announced.

In the dominoes competition for all divisions there were four close encounters in which the home teams lost.

At the Sydney Arms visitors Cosey Club secured a 5-4 victory when Stuart Tonks and Paul Hatherley won the final pairs game.

Liberal A had a 4-1 lead and then lost the next four games as the Earl of Chester pairing of Pete Pimbley and Dave Mason ensured a 5-4 victory.

In the game at the Nags Head visitors Leisure won the first four games, Nags fought back to take the next four games but the Leisure pair of M Peake and Julie Patrick won the final game for a 5-4 victory

Bridge C and LMR shared the first eight games leaving the tie to be decided on the final pairs won by the LMR duo of Kevin Goodwin and Billy Graham to give LMR victory by 5-4.

Vine A gained revenge for last season's defeat in this competition by Hope Pole with a 5-3 scoreline.

It was a mixed night for the Mals as the B team had an easy win over Liberal Valley but the A team lost 5-3 to South Street Snooker.

North Ward eased into a 3-1 lead against Westend RAOB A but then lost the next four to go down with a 5-3 scoreline.

The draw for round four to be played on Tuesday, September 3 is as follows: Westend RAOB A vs LMR A, South Street Snooker vs Leisure Club, Amalagamated B vs Vine A and Earl of Chester vs Cosey Club.
