o THERE will be a jumble sale at Lostock community centre on Saturday, August 31, in aid of animal welfare.

Doors open at 1.30pm and admission costs 20p.

o THERE is still a place remaining for a new member on Lostock Parish Council, just over a week before it returns to business from a summer break.

The parish council is still on the lookout for someone to join its ranks following a number of changes with members earlier this year.

Anyone interested in putting themselves forward can contact the parish council clerk, Jean Starkey, either by phone on 01606 47437 or in writing to 4 Shavington Way, Kingsmead, CW9 8FH.

Applications will be considered by the council through a vote.

Meanwhile, the council is preparing for its first meeting since July.

As is tradition, there was no meeting in August, but it will be back to business as usual on Monday, September 2 when it meets at Lostock Community Centre at 7.30pm, when there will be a chance for members of the public to raise issues.
