o ST Mary's Church in Weaverham got the luck of the weather on Monday when it held a fundraising garden party.

The church hosted the event to raise money for church funds - and the sun showed up in force to ensure it was not a wash out.

A variety of attractions for all the family was provided on the day and for full details of how much was raised, see next week's Guardian.

o THERE'S an opportunity for Weaverham residents to see the accounts, how much was spent how much profit was made and how money will be spent from this year's Weaverham Rose Fete.

For there is a public annual meeting of the Rose Fete Committee at Weaverham Community Centre on Friday, August 30. at 7.30pm.

Also a new committee needs to be appointed to organise next year's event bearing in mind that most of the 2002 committee only volunteered to serve for one year in order to keep it going.

As this years' Rose Fete was put together in only three months new ideas are needed.

The fete belongs to residents and not the committee so the committee is urging as many people as possible to attend.

o IT'S time to turn the clock back and enjoy a 60s night at Owley Wood Club - in aid of Leighton Hospital Prostate Cancer Support Group.

The event takes place on Friday, September 6, when a five piece band Sandgrounders top the bill supported by local artist Ross Campbell with your host and compere Gary Steele.

Raffle prizes included a Man Utd signed football.

It starts 8pm till late and tickets cost £4.
