NORTHWICH chemical giant Brunner Mond is to be among the sponsors of a major national awards scheme for the container glass industry.
The company is the UK's only producer of soda-ash - a key ingredient in glass making - and many of its customers are manufacturers of container or flat glass.
The third annual Shine Awards, to be held in November, will showcase the best in the design and appearance of glass containers, such as bottles and jars.
Last year, an amazing 14 of the 15 finalists were Brunner Mond customers.
Les Weston, marketing manager at Brunner Mond, said: "It is exciting and fitting for Brunner Mond to be involved in the Shine Awards as the glass packaging sector is a major customer of ours.
"Glass is an important packaging material and for more than a century we have been an important supplier to the industry.
"We are delighted to have a hand in rewarding excellence in design and innovation."
