STAFF at a shop in Frodsham were held at gunpoint during an armed robbery last week.

At 9.45pm on Friday, August 23, two men entered the Spar Shop on Main Street in Frodsham.

One produced a handgun and threatened the two women staff members before demanding money.

Once they had handed over a quantity of cash, the thieves then made their escape in a white Vauxhall Cavalier, which was later recovered in High Street.

The car had been stolen earlier in the day from Winsford and had also been involved in a drive-off at a petrol station in Tarvin about an hour before the robbery.

A witness saw something being thrown from the car as it sped away - an police later recovered a handgun.

No-one was hurt in the incident, but both women were left very shaken.

One of the offenders is described as 20-years-old, around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall and of a slight build.

He had short cropped hair and a Liverpool accent and was wearing blue jeans and a blue T-shirt.

The other man was 20-years-old, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 8ins tall and of a slight build.

He had a Liverpool accent and was wearing a blue denim jacket over his head and blue jeans.

l A ROBBERY in Frodsham launched a large-scale police pursuit across Cheshire last week.

At 3.40pm on Thursday, two men stole cash from a Late Shop on Chester Road, Frodsham, and made their getaway in a burgundy-coloured car.

The police launched its aircraft to track the car down by air.

Some 10 minutes after the offence, the men were seen abandoning the car in Sutton Weaver and officers arrested one of the men.

But the second man continued to run and was spotted by the police aircraft heading to Rock Savage. He was eventually caught in Clifton.

A 28-year-old from Holywell has since been interviewed in relation to the offence and a 14-year-old youth from Weaverham has been released on police bail.

All the property stolen in the incident has been recovered.
