A MAN appeared in court yesterday after an alleged armed robbery at a Knutsford garage.
The man, who was remanded by Macclesfield magistrates, was arrested after a car crash.
A witness told the Knutsford Guardian how two men were thrown from a red Ford Escort as it landed on its roof in Hall Lane, Mobberley, on Sunday night.
"They closed the road for nearly four hours," he said.
"The car smashed a telephone box and then hit another wall and a gate."
Both men were arrested at the scene and taken to hospital.
One was yesterday still recovering in hospital.
Yesterday the glass front door of the Esso garage in Toft Road, Knutsford, was boarded up after being smashed.
Detective Sergeant Roger Grainger said that the cashier had been terrified.
"He was not injured, but was left in fear and did as he was told," he said.
Yesterday police appealed for witnesses to the crash to call 01244 613694.
