IN the first round of the town championship last Thursday, Burma Star A provided the shock when the section four champions defeated section two's RAOB Buffs 6/3.

Likely Lads were not able to pull off a similar feat, despite a 19-dart game from Andy Hunt, instead losing 6/3 to section one champions, Albion.

Barley Mow proved too strong for opponents Dreadnaughts running out 9/0 winners with their best coming from Steve Wilson who recorded a 17-dart game.

At the same stage in the Executive Competition, RNA found themselves trailing Waterloo 4/2 before a comeback saw them run out 5/4 winners.

In other results, Tranny Lads beat Castle 8/1 whilst Grapes lost 5/4 to Jolly Brewer.

In the second round of the town championships played last Friday, section two runners-up Pirates went down 4/1 against section five opponents Croft Magnets before turning it around for a 5/4 win.

Albion beat Barley Mow 8/1 whilst section one runners-up Taverners were given a much tougher test to beat section four's Fiddlers III A 5/4.

Burma Star A's Bernie Dodd finished in 17 darts but his team went down by the odd game to Red Admiral and Tricorn's Steve Roberts proved to be the star of the night, recording a 17-dart game as well as hitting two maximums in his team's 9/0 whitewashing of Wanderers.

Jolly Brewer turned in a great performance against Union Tavern for a 5/4 finish, Gobaloons beat Pavilions B 5/4 and Tranny Lads beat RNA 6/3.

The semi-finals of both competitions will be held on Thursday night.

The following Thursday (September 5) the league's first two finals will be staged at the RNA Club when Taverners will meet Albion in the final of the RJM KO Cup and Draymen will face Red Admiral in the final of the Joe Bailey Cup, starting at 8.30pm.
