THE funeral for Charles Thomas Wright of Leftwich has taken place at Davenham Parish Church following his death on July 29, aged 80. The service was followed by cremation and the Rev Greenhough officiated.

Charles was born in Liverpool but moved to Northwich over 60 years ago. He was a train driver, a job he loved, but the best was driving steam engines.

He was a very keen gardener and people would pass comments on how immaculate and lovely his garden was.

He also loved to watch the big ships when they came to his hometown of Liverpool.

Charles was a very independent man right up to his illness. He promised his late wife Annie who died five years ago that he would keep his home as well as she had.

Charles leaves sons Jimmy and Kevin, daughters-in-law Hazel and Heather, granddaughters Marie, Emma and Joanne, and great granddaughter Bethany to whom he was devoted.

He came from a very close family of five, the eldest brother of Fred and Jim, and two sisters Nell and Nancy. Nell was the eldest of the five.

Arrangements were by George Lightfoot, Witton Mews.
