THE funeral was held recently of Elsie Richardson who died on August 12, aged 74.
Elsie was born in Whitley Bay, Northumberland. Her parents were Gordon and Evelyn Jane Downie, and they had four boys and two girls.
Elsie was brought up in Backworth, Shiremoor, Northumberland, where she attended Shiremoor Junior and High Schools. In 1948 she was married to Sydney Richardson.
They settled first in Backworth, then in Seaton Delaval in Northumberland before moving to Leftwich, Greenbank and finally Castle. She was widowed in 1984.
During her working life Elsie had various jobs including cleaning at Mid Cheshire College. She enjoyed knitting and playing bingo.
She leaves seven children, 26 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Rector Rob Munro conducted the service at Davenham Parish Church prior to committal at Altrincham Crematorium.
