CONGLETON Town are looking to bounce back in the FA Cup tomorrow after two league defeats in the space of four days.

The Bears travel to Rocester in the preliminary round of the cup, followed by a trip to Witton Albion next Tuesday in the Cheshire Senior Cup.

Congleton went down 2-1 at home to Atherton Collieries on Tuesday night, after a 4-1 defeat at Prescot Cables on Saturday.

Atherton took the lead on the hour from a glancing header following a corner.

They made it 2-0 11 minutes later when a player fired home from 12 yards out after connecting with a cross.

Congleton scored four minutes from the end when Iain Dyson capitalised on a mix-up between the Atherton keeper and a defender to score.

Saturday's game followed a similar pattern to Tuesday's, Congleton having a good first half before going behind midway through the second.

Prescot went ahead on 64 minutes when striker Tarpey side-footed home after following up a shot beaten out by keeper Sinnott.

Tarpey scored his second two minutes later when he lifted the ball over everyone into the net at the far post.

Prescot went three up on 83 minutes when a floated cross was nodded in.

Tarpey made it a hat-trick three minutes later when he broke down the middle and beat the keeper.

Martin Gwinnett scored a consolation goal for Congleton on the final whistle with an excellent shot from 30 yards.
