ALSAGER'S batsmen produced an excellent team display on Saturday on the way to home victory over Toft.

Toft opened with 200 for seven in 48 overs, and Alsager replied with 201 for six with four overs to spare.

Alsager's top scorer was number six Ken South, who hit an unbeaten 41.

Other important knocks came from Shaun Woolley with 34, Gareth Rowe with 30, Paul Adams on 28 and 21 from opener Paul Pickford.

Alsager hit 53 for the first wicket, and lost pairs of wickets with the score on 76 and 93.

The game was in the balance at 93 for five, but Alsager regained the initiative with stands of 51 and 57 to win the match.

Toft made a poor start, reduced to 26 for two before a stand of 55 revived them.

They lost four more wickets for the addition of 32 runs before the best stand of the day, 86, which took the total from 113 to 199.

James Warrington and Paul Pickford each claimed two wickets, and there was one a piece for Rowe, Mark Bengry and Dominic Bull.

Alsager took 20 points to 11 for Toft.
