PLANNING permission has been granted for a huge regeneration scheme, which will breathe new life into the former Stretton Airfield.
Borough councillors approved Henry Boot Development Ltd's proposals - for industrial storage buildings and car parking - at last Wednesday's development control committee meeting.
Dubbed The Big Apple, the land is viewed as sustainable and the location favourable because it is situated next to the M56, and eliminates the risk of HGVs travelling through built-up areas.
Appleton Parish Council had previously argued that planning permission for the development should be refused unless improvements were made to the proposed access.
Clr Brian Axcell said: "This is a massive development and the only problem is the suitability of access via Barleycastle Lane."
