THE people of Warrington have raised more than £40,000 over the past 12 months for one of the UK's leading charities, according to new figures.
NCH, which supports young people leaving care and children with disabilities, has reported that the fundraising activities in Warrington alone accounted for £39,089 during the past year, with a further £2,094 having been raised in Lymm.
The money is part of more than £150,000 raised throughout Cheshire and helps NCH to work with families in crisis and supports the adoption projects of the group - which places the largest number of children with families in the voluntary sector.
Deryk Mead, chief executive of the charity, said: "We thank the people of Warrington for their support over the past year.
"Their generosity means that we can continue to support the children and young people who need it the most to reach their full potential.
"The projects that NCH runs go a long way to changing lives and giving young people the opportunity to really shine."
