ON Saturday Eccleston's opponents were St Johns. Batting first in indifferent conditions Eccleston lost early wickets it was only when Elliott (25) was joined at the crease by top score French(27) that the Eccleston score moved along.
When both of these wickets fell only Holden (10no) reached double figures before the close of their innings when Eccleston were 99/6. The best St Johns bowler was P Foster with 2/23.
St John's started their innings very briskly with opener Purdham (24) supported by top score Arkwright (31), P Foster continued with a cavalier 27 to see St John's reach 103/4 to win the game.
The pick of the Eccleston bowling was Creak with 2/36.
