WARRINGTON Wolves' head coach Paul Cullen had no doubt that the loss of injured Sid Domic had a baring on how the Wigan result panned out on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Wolves went into the game one centre down as Ben Westwood was suspended and to lose another at a time when Wigan were looking shaky at 6-0 down was a kick in the teeth.

Two minutes after Domic's departure Wigan drew level to double the blow and never looked back.

Cullen said: "We looked to have good shape although, to be fair, we were a little bit indecisive at the back end of plays as we were throughout the game.

"But we had good width and looked to be a little adventurous. At many points we turned Wigan around and had them on the back foot.

"The fact that we had to switch Darren Burns, who I thought had an outstanding game, from loose forward to right centre in place of Domic caused us to lose a little bit of shape and that decisiveness that Burns may have given us around the middle play.

"If we can maintain the shape and that desire to go forward and compete in games then we generally have our destiny in our hands. Then we wouldn't be waiting for other teams to fall or make mistakes. We are looking to take a grip of our situation."

Cullen felt there was enough in Warrington's opening quarter performance to feel optimistic about going into the final four games of a season that is still threatening Warrington with relegation.

He said: "As a team we need to take confidence from that opening 20 minutes.

"To play a game with width like we did we need a quicker play of the ball and we need the opposition to be on the back foot."

Cullen added: "Sometimes against Wigan we went too wide too early when they had good shape in defence."
