WARRINGTON Wolves will have teams at under 18s and u21s level next year thanks to further Rugby Football League changes.

Under 21s Alliance rugby was scrapped last season in favour of under 19s Academy and a pilot u17s Academy league but clubs have found themselves not being able to give fringe first team players necessary games to maintain their match sharpness.

This season, up to three under 21s players have been allowed to play in each club's Academy u19s game.

Changes midway through the campaign allowed for two players over the age of 21 to play for each Academy u19s team, to enable non-selected Super League players to have a run out to improve their match fitness.

That reverted back to three u21s players only last month.

It will mean a re-shuffle of staff for Warrington Wolves to fit in with the new age groups.

Currently former player Dave Elliott, the club's learning coordinator, has been coaching the junior Academy side along with the town's rugby development officer Neil Kelly.

Another former player, Gary Chambers, has been coaching the u19s Academy as well as assisting the club's head coach.
