THE sun had its hat on last week when Orford kids took to the streets to stage a massive clean-up and a clampdown on litter.

And the pint-sized workers enjoyed a fun day afterwards when they were rewarded for their efforts at the Grasmere and Greenwood Centre on Grasmere Avenue with hot dogs and soft drinks.

After a hard day's work, the little helpers settled down to some entertainment before dancing the evening away at a specially organised disco at the centre.

Ward councillor Brian Maher said: "It was absolutely brilliant. We ended up with around 70 children. They went around the estate in teams of four, each team supervised by an adult. The disco rounded off the day lovely and the great thing was it was all free."
