A Helpline has been set up to answer any concerns of patients and members of the public following the charges of indecent assault brought against a former St Helens GP.
Dr Roy Murray, 60, of Bromborough, Wirral, appeared before St Helens Magistrates last week where he faced seven counts of indecently assaulting women on separate dates between 1978 and 1990.
He retired as a GP at Liverpool Road Surgery, St Helens in March this year but had been working as a locum at the Irwin Road Surgery in Sutton.
The Primary Care Trust has set up a confidential helpline for patients and members of the public "who wish to discuss any concerns regarding this investigation".
Meanwhile, St Helens Primary Care Trust issued a statement confirming they had suspended Dr Murray. This read: "The Trust has suspended Dr Murray without prejudice and in the public interest while the police investigations are carried out".
Dr Murray is currently on conditional bail and is due to appear before St Helens Magistrates' Court on October 1.
