STRETTON recorded an impressive victory over Aston that has virtually guaranteed their promotion to the Cheshire Alliance Premiership.

Stretton posted a decent score of 171 runs. Steve Oldfield, 32 runs and Mark Critchley, 31, were their top scorers.

Paul Marsh, who took five wickets for 32 runs, was Stretton's star bowler. His fast, hostile spell sent Aston reeling and Stretton strolled to victory.

Stretton Seconds were defeated in a high scoring game at Aston.

Stretton scored 236 runs for seven wickets. Their best performers were Kris Narine, 53 and Andy Delaney, 52. Steve Critchley, blasted 20 off only eight balls.

In reply, Stretton bowled poorly and Aston used their 50 overs to full advantage to seal their win.

Dave Cotton was the only bowler to emerge with any credit, taking 3-81.
