MAN of the match Ben Preston's strike shortly before half-time was the difference between these two sides.
Rainford, last season's league runners-up, were left feeling they should have had a point at least after an exciting and hard fought clash.
Rainford had opened the scoring after only 15 minutes but Warrington had equalised with a goal from Lee Burton on 23 minutes.
The second half produced some first class football from both sides, including some excellent saves from Warrington goalkeeper Arron Tyrer.
